Discusses the legal requirements/options for joint venture in the market
Last Published: 6/9/2016
  • Joint Ventures Encouraged: International investors are encouraged by the government to establish joint ventures with Bahamian partners, although legally, the Bahamian partner must have majority ownership.  The choice of a Bahamian partner is left to the discretion of the investor.  There are many successful joint ventures between Bahamian firms and U.S. companies but investors are advised to carefully vet their potential partners.

  • Funding: Joint venture firms are eligible to access funding from The Bahamas Development Bank (BDB).  Bahamians may borrow a percentage of their contribution from BDB or the domestic capital market.  Once established, the JV is free to raise capital and access local financing sources.
