Lauderdale, Houston, Miami, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Tampa and West Palm Beach. There is also direct air service between Nassau and the following international destinations: Cuba, Grand Cayman, Kingston, Panama, London, Montego Bay, Turks and Caicos Islands and Toronto. Direct charter services are available to Paris on a seasonal basis.

  • Inter-island connections: Service is available from Nassau to other Bahamian islands via the government owned Bahamas Air and several privately owned companies (Sky Bahamas, Western Air, Pineapple Air, Flamingo Air, LeAir and several others).

  • U.S. Pre-clearance: U.S. Customs and Border Protection have pre-clearance facilities at the airports in Nassau and Freeport.

  • Car rental: Car rental prices are competitive with Hertz, Avis, Budget, Dollar and other franchises represented in the country. There are several competitive local operators also available at airports on the major islands. Pick up from a hotel anywhere in New Providence including Paradise Island is free of charge.  Prices range from $50 per day ($305 per week) for a compact car to $119 per day ($735 per week) for a minivan and include unlimited mileage.

  • Public transportation: The public transportation system is inefficient but provides inexpensive touring and a close view of local life.  Fare is $1.50 in town and more for outlying areas.  Fixed routes are often not adhered to and there have been instances of reckless driving as drivers race to pick up new customers.  Bus stops are marked but often not used.  Service is generally from 6:00 am-7pm; however, time schedules may be unpredictable.  This is not a recommended option for business travelers.
