The Bahamas officially opened an office in Geneva in June 2015 to assist its effort to accede to membership in the WTO. Progress towards accession has been slow but efforts continue.

The country is also a beneficiary under the Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI) and has applied for benefits under the Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act. Additionally the country receives preferential access under Canada’s CARIBCAN Program and remains a signatory to the Cotonou Agreement and the Economic Partnership Agreement between Europe and the member states of the Caribbean Forum of the ACP.
