Uganda’s medical facilities are attracting U.S. investors, especially in private medical care and oncology. On June 26, 2018 the U.S. Trade Development Agency, signed a $125,000 training grant with Uganda’s Ministry of Health to train Ugandan medical staff on the use of a state-of-the-art linear accelerator manufactured by U.S. firm Varian Medical Systems at the Uganda Cancer Institute. In 2017, the U.S. government provided Uganda’s health sector with $621.5 million for health programs, facilities, purchasing pharmaceuticals, and purchasing medical equipment.
