Existing meat processing facilities do not meet international standards. Given the increase in livestock, good opportunities exist for U.S. exports and investment in the upgrade of these facilities and equipment.  U.S. exports of meat to Afghanistan reached $32 million in 2014, accounting for just over half of all agricultural exports to the country, according to U.S. Department of Commerce data.
