Prices of imported goods are typically high as they include international and domestic transportation charges, customs duty, and value added tax (16%).
In general, Zambian consumers are price conscious and place greater emphasis on price than quality.  However, in many sectors Zambians still see the value of U.S. products and services compared to products and services from other countries.
