U.S. companies need to be aware that English is not widely spoken in the Republic of Congo. The official language is French.  Few government officials have more than a passing knowledge of English, and English skills are lacking in all sectors.  Companies without internal French language proficiency would be well-advised to engage a trusted interpreter before attempting to enter the Republic of Congo market.
