The African Development Bank (http://www.afdb.org/en/) returned to Abidjan from its temporary headquarters in Tunis in September 2014, after having left Abidjan in 2004 in the midst of the country’s civil strife.

The World Bank (http://www.worldbank.org) and the International Monetary Fund
(http://www.imf.org) also maintain offices in Abidjan.  Banking supervision for the

WAEMU countries is the responsibility of the BCEAO Banking Commission, headquartered in Abidjan (http://www.bceao.int/).  The Governor of the regional
central bank, the BCEAO, also serves as Chairman of the Banking Commission.

The Commission includes representatives of each member state and France and
eight independent members appointed by the member states.
