A relatively small percentage of total U.S. exports and re-exports are controlled or require a license from the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS).  License requirements are dependent upon an item's technical characteristics, the destination, the end-user, and the end-use.  You must determine whether your export requires a license.  For more information please visit the  Department of Commerce (DOC) Export Controls website (https://www.bis.doc.gov/index.php/regulations/commerce-control-list-ccl).

As an aid to industry in conducting electronic screens of potential parties to regulated transactions, a list that consolidates eleven export screening lists from the Departments of Commerce, State and, Treasury into a single search is available here (http://developer.trade.gov/consolidated-screening-list.html).
