Save the Date: Conference on Cross Border Data Flows, Data Protection, and Privacy, October 15-16, 2007, Washington, D.C.
Under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the European Commission, and the Article 29 Working Party on Data Protection, this conference continues the conversation on the U.S.-E.U. Safe Harbor Framework, data protection, and the importance of cross border data flows to international trade.
Who should attend: Corporations, law firms, and interest groups concerned about the affect the European Union's data protection directive has on their business; chief privacy officers, chief information security officers, corporate counsel, and other corporate officials responsible for global compliance with data privacy legal frameworks.
Why attend: the European Commission and member states are contemplating revisions to the data protection directive and the ePrivacy directive that will influence cross border data flows, compliance with the directive, and the use of privacy enhancing technologies to protect personally identifiable information, and the EU's possible adoption of a system of privacy seals to build confidence in the EU that data is being protected in accordance with predictable codes of conduct sanctioned by the European Commission. Sponsorships are available.
