Scott Pozil

Commercial Section Deputy Chief at the

American Institute in Taiwan

Scott Pozil serves as the Deputy Chief of the Commercial Section at the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT). He oversees the day to day work of the commercial specialists and assistants, and develops commercial programs and initiatives. Mr. Pozil joined the Foreign Commercial Service in February 2001. Mr. Pozil most recently served as the Senior Commercial Officer in Sofia, Bulgaria. He also served as the Deputy Senior Commercial Officer in Singapore (2003-2007) and the Commercial Liaison Officer to the African Development Bank and acting SCO of CS Abidjan (2001-2003). He was responsible for assisting U.S. companies in pursuing commercial opportunities with the African Development Bank and in West & Central Africa.

Mr. Pozil joined the U.S. Department of Commerce in 1996 as a Presidential Management Intern (PMI). He worked as an international trade specialist in the Trade Information Center (TIC) from 1996-1997, and then in the Middletown, CT Export Assistance Center from 1997-2001.

Mr. Pozil received an MPA (Masters in Public Administration) from American University in 1996, and a BA from Lake Forest College in 1993. During 1994, Scott served as Fulbright Scholar in Zimbabwe, where he worked for an economist and wrote & presented a paper on "The Commercial Banking Sector in Zimbabwe.”
