Connecting the World:
The Panama Canal at 100 Exhibition Networking Reception
Date: Thursday, October 30, 2014
Time: 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Location: Mint Museum Uptown, 500 South Tryon St,
Charlotte, NC 28202
On Thursday, October 30, the Mint Museum Uptown will host a kick off reception for DISCOVER GLOBAL MARKETS: The Americas from 6-8 pm. The event will highlight and coincide with Mint Museum Uptown’s Connecting the World: The Panama Canal at 100 exhibition, November 1, 2014 through February 1, 2015.
This reception will give attendees a first-hand look at the exhibit, as well as provide an opportunity to network with high level commercial diplomats, industry professionals and trade experts from the Americas.
This is the first exhibition to explore the remarkable imagery of one of America’s most significant contributions to the development of global trade: The Panama Canal. Coinciding with the centennial of the opening of the Canal, it will bring together not only four dozen rarely seen works of art from important public and private collections but will also feature a wide range of ephemera related to the Canal and a site specific installation by renowned contemporary artist Mei Chin commissioned especially for the show. Connecting the World demonstrates that arts and culture play an important role in Charlotte’s emerging role as a global city.
