John Breidenstine

The U.S. Commercial Service in the United Kingdom is pleased to welcome its new Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs John D. Breidenstine.

Before arriving to the United Kingdom in August 2011, John was U.S. Consul General in Hermosillo, Mexico (2008-2011); U.S. Department of Commerce Regional Director for Commercial Service operations in Europe and Eurasia (2006-2008); and, Commercial Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City (2003-2006). Prior to a 2002 reconstruction-related assignment at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, he served for 5 years in Ankara, Turkey (1997-2002); in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (1994-1997), in Kuwait City, Kuwait (1991-1993); and in Munich, Germany (1990-1991).

Before joining the U.S. Government, John worked as an Account Executive for International Paper in New York City and Atlanta. He is a 1984 Graduate of Davidson College in North Carolina and studied international relations at the University of Miami in Florida and at the Free University of Berlin in Germany. John is married to Judith Valdes of Sinaloa, Mexico, and they have three children, Victor Manuel, Sofia Grace and John David.
