Marine and Port Equipment & Infrastructure Trade Mission to Four of India’s Top Port Areas of Kochi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Goa – April/May 2015
This U.S. Department of Commerce executive-led trade mission provides the opportunity to visit and engage in three port cities across India. The Indian Shipping Ministry expects traffic at federal ports to grow from 561 million tons in 2010 to 1.2 billion tons by 2020, and traffic at state/ private ports from 289 million tons to 1.2 billion tons in that same decade. Plans are underway to develop new terminals, upgrade existing berths, and modernize operations to accommodate this growing traffic. Plans consist of underwater mapping, dredging, vessel tracking systems and more. Additionally, India’s National Institute of Oceanography seeks advanced technologies to support their efforts in ocean exploration, coastline protection, and oil spill recovery. Oceans 2015 – Washington, DC October 19-22, 2015
The annual OCEANS North America conference and exhibition, jointly sponsored by the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES), rotates among locations with significant maritime communities. U.S. shipping companies interested in participating in one of the world's largest shipping exhibitions and a recognized showcase for the international maritime and shipping industries should consider exhibiting in the U.S. Pavilion at the 2014 Posidonia International Shipping Exhibition (Posidonia 2014). Held biennially, Posidonia 2014 will take place June 2-6, 2014 at the state-of-the-art Metropolitan Expo Centre in Athens, Greece.
A tradition that has spanned over 40 years, Posidonia 2012 broke all previous records. Over 1,870 exhibitors from 87 countries and 18,547 trade visitors from 92 countries took part in the 23rd staging of this event. The exhibitors represented all sectors of the shipping industry, including ship owners, shipbuilding firms, manufacturers of marine equipment and ship products of all kinds, software providers to shipbrokers, insurance and banking firms, port authorities, shipyards, and shipping related service firms. Water treatment specialists and pollution control experts also participated in Posidonia 2012 and are expected at Posidonia 2014 in response to the significant cost savings generated through the effective implementation of environmentally-friendly innovations in the shipping sector.
The massive renewal of the Greek shipping fleet – 2012's order book topped 110 units worth nearly $7 billion -- continues with a multi-million dollar upgrades which will see the average age of the oceangoing Greek fleet dropping to 10 years. At the beginning of 2013, over 80 Greek companies had 370 ships of more than 32 million DWT on order, including 40 gas carriers. Posidonia 2014 provides an excellent opportunity for U.S. companies to meet with all the players in world shipping!
