Product Certification

The Bureau of Indian Standard’s product standards are basically voluntary in nature with some exceptions. In order to provide protection to domestic producers in certain sectors, BIS has promulgated regulations dictating that imports of 109 products are subject to mandatory certification with specified Indian quality standards. For compliance, exporters/manufacturers of the 109 products are required to register with and obtain product certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards, before exporting such goods to India.
