|India Cold Chain 2014 (TFC Event) -- Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Eq., Electrical Power Systems, Environmental Technologies, Food Processing/Packaging Eq.|
India is the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables after China. On average, India produces 85 million tons of vegetables and 45 million tons of fruit. India's potential to export is hindered because farmers lose almost 40 percent of all fruits and vegetables due to improper harvesting, handling and lack of access to cold storage facilities. From 2009 to 2017, India's cold chain capacity is expected to increase almost 26% raising the capitalization to about $3 billion US - RS 640 billion.
For US processed foods and cold chain supply and management exporters, this presents a sustained venue to selling into this expanding market.
