U.S.-China Videoconference Series on
New Chemical Management Systems Fifth Conference: Low Volume Exemptions
and R&D Exemptions
On October 15, 2003, China implemented its Measures on Environmental
Administration of New Chemical Substances, a set of regulations
that could have a significant impact on trade in chemicals and
the wide range of products with chemical components. In order
to address specific questions in the regulations and to increase
communication among interested parties, the U.S. Department of
Commerce and China's State Environmental Protection Administration
(SEPA) agreed to hold a series of videoconferences on these Measures.
This series is a way for regulators to share best practices and
for the private sector to bring their trade-related concerns to
the attention of both governments.
In this fifth videoconference in the series, U.S. EPA and SEPA
officials will continue discussion on the new chemical management
systems and focus more on the issues of low volume exemptions
and R&D exemptions that exist under the U.S. and Chinese systems.
