September 27, 2005 - Working in conjunction with our overseas colleague, Principal Commercial Officer Soching Tsai of Commercial Service Shenyang, the Oakland U.S. Export Assistance Center (USEAC) hosted a delegation of fourteen port and city officials from Dalian, China, Oakland's Sister City/Sister Port. Some of the visiting officials include Dr. Xia Deren (Mayor of Dalian), Mr. Qi Yumin (Vice Major of Dalian), Mr. Hui Kai (Director General, Dalian Port Authority), and Mr. Zhao Qiang (Division Chief, Dalian Port Authority). The Port of Dalian plans to greatly expand its terminal operations and is seeking U.S. technology, equipment, and expertise to achieve the city's 2010 expansion goals. As a result, the Oakland USEAC arranged for the Dalian Port and City officials to meet with representatives from the Port of Oakland and for one-on-one meetings with six local exporting companies: Liftech, JWD Group (a division of DMJM Harris), Navis LLC, Deep Ocean Engineering, Douglas Engineering, and VBN Architects.
