Thursday, August 10, 2006 - The Oakland Export Assistance Center (EAC) hosted an India Renewable Energy Trade Mission comprised of private and public sector representatives at various locations in the East Bay. The delegation was recruited by the U.S. Commercial Service New Dehli in support of the Asia Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate. This is the third renewable energy trade mission from India that the Oakland EAC has hosted since 2003. The Oakland leg of the trade mission was just one stop of a two week-long schedule beginning in Chicago, IL at the Energy 2006 trade show and ending in Washington, DC. As part of the program, the delegation visited the Santa Rita Jail in Pleasanton, CA for a fuel cell dedication ceremony. After which the delegation was brought to Xantrex Technologies Inc. in Livermore, California. Oakland EAC Director Rod Hirsch, along with Senior Commercial Specialist Preetha Nair, presented an Export Achievement Certificate to Xantrex for their India export successes. During the series of site-visits and other events, Director Hirsch was able to promote the upcoming Under Secretary of Commerce Frank Lavin business development mission to India. The final component of the agenda included a site visit to California State University East Bay to view a 1 mw solar installation by Powerlight4 which utilizes Xantrex inverters.
