Monday, May 21, 2007 - The Oakland Export Assistance Center Director Rod Hirsch hosted a solar energy delegation from Inner Mongolia, Peoples Republic of China. The delegation was comprised of five high-level provincial government and academic officials investigating U.S. products and technologies for use in what will be the largest solar station in the world. The delegation's visit was coordinated with the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Policy and International Affairs. Inner Mongolia plans on the construction of a one megawatt pilot project leading to 30 megawatts. Kellie Holloway in the China BIC sent this project opportunity to the Energy Team back in February 2007. Director Hirsch pursued the lead with the U.S. Department of Energy. This in turn led to the proposal to host the VIP delegation in the San Francisco Bay Area. Director Hirsch arranged site visits and meetings with three solar energy companies. The delegation members were very pleased with the meetings and will be following-up with these companies on this project opportunity. Director Hirsch is an active member of the Energy Team.
