Clean Technology Export Opportunities & Insights Luncheon

On Friday, December 4, 20009, The Oakland Export Assistance Center (EAC) organized a Cleantech Export Opportunities and Insights Luncheon. This event was hosted by California State University, East Bay (CSUEB) and FedEx, a corporate supporter of the luncheon, promoted the joint U.S. Commercial Service/FedEx "Green Industries Trade Mission" to Europe taking place in April 2010. The event began with a signing ceremony between CSUEB President Mohammad Qayoumi and Secretary Khanna to further the recruitment effort of foreign students and provide the Oakland EAC with a pipeline of interns who are interested in learning about international trade. The keynote speaker was Ro Khanna, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Domestic Operations, who provided remarks on his participation in the recent Energy Efficiency Trade Mission to India. This was followed by presentations from a panel of speakers that consisted of representatives from smart grid/energy management software company OSIsoft LLc, solar PV manufacturer and project developer SunPower Corporation, as well as the U.S. Export-Import Bank. The event ended with Secretary Khanna's presentation of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Export Achievement Awards to OSISoft and SunPower along with a Certificate of Appreciation to CSUEB for their support of the U.S. Commercial Service in trade promotion and trade education. This event attracted around 100 attendees, which included NIST/MEP, media and congressional district representatives.
